Flying high! Photographer captures eight hours of take-offs at LAX airport in ONE stunning image

This impressive image shows what eight hours of planes taking off at Los Angeles International airport looks like.
Photographer Mike Kelley spent a day shooting 370 photos, capturing nearly all the departures, and a few of the arrivals.
He then assembled 75 of the shots into one dramatic image - called Wake Turbulence - with Photoshop, showcasing a wide range of airlines.

Taking off! Photographer Mike Kelley spent eight hours snapping planes leaving LAX to create the image
And he admitted to using 'artistic liberty' with the angle of the planes leaving LAX - which saw 66 million passengers pass through it in 2013 - to make a more interesting image.
Mike, who uploaded the image to his blog, said: 'I took some artistic liberty with the angles of attack to make a more interesting photograph, but for the most part this is all very similar to how it would appear if you were to go and watch yourself.
'Artistic liberty': Mike spent eight hours taking photos of planes taking off at LAX to produce the image
There are two runways and both were being used for take-offs, so that explains the size differences and depth differences between the planes.
'If you look to the right of the tower, I also tried to get some of the heavies arriving. Singapore, Air France, Malaysia, Air New Zealand and Emirates A380s and 772s.'

Tanks, what tanks? Crimean tourism minister claims country is ready for six million tourists this year

  • New visa-free entry put in place to encourage boost in cruise tourism
  • Country recently snatched by Russia plans to revamp 130 tourism facilities
The Crimean tourism minister, Yelena Yurchenko, says the country is ready to receive six million tourists in 2014.
In an announcement to the press, Yurchenko said that foreign tourists will be able to visit Crimea visa-free from this year
The move, according to Russian News Agency ITAR-TASS, is to support the country's push to maintain cruise tourism and encourage holiday-makers to visit.

Crimea, which was reclaimed by Russia from Ukraine in March after violent protests resulting in over 100 deaths, plans to invest a large amount of money to modernise about 130 tourist facilities.
And Yurchenko appealed to the public to book a trip for the new holiday season, which starts on May

The visa-free amendment will allow foreign tourists to stay at Crimean resorts without a visa for up to 12 days, and tourists arriving aboard cruise liners at Crimean ports will be granted a 72-hour visa-free stay.
The Ukrainian peninsula has much to offer its visitors, including  the Swallow's Nest castle in Gaspra,  a Neo-Gothic building designed by Russian architect Leonid Sherwood between 1911 and 1912; hiking in the beautiful Carpathian Mountains around Rakhiv; and miles of sandy beaches.

Phone Holmes! Katie looks like she's on a different planet as she pounds the pavements in Manhattan lost in music

As Mrs Tom Cruise she could no sooner have walked down the street alone than lambasted the practitioners of her then husband's beloved Scientology.
But life has moved on in the 21 months since their split, and Katie Holmes, 35, has done a fantastic job of reinventing herself as a working actress with a routine and relatively low-profile.
Key to achieving this was her move to New York, ostensibly to be nearer Broadway but also, it seems, so she can lose herself in the masses of Manhattan.

She certainly seems to enjoy the bustle, which is the antithesis of the deserted yet lushly manicured sidewalks of Beverly Hills where she lived with the 51-year-old megastar.
In Holmes' Hollywood, getting around would involve nothing more liberating than a blacked out Escalade or pedalling on the spot at Soul Cycle.
So on Tuesday she made the most of pounding through Manhattan in her jeans and jumper, and a pair of Celine boots (she hasn't lost ALL the A-List trappings!)

The Dawson's Creek alum also had her earplugs firmly in place and seemed very much lost in music as she went about her business.
Recently, Katie has been busy filming her new show in the city that never sleeps.
According to Deadline Hollywood, the series is 'in the vein of Dangerous Liaisons'.

Penned by Richard LaGravenese the untitled New York set project 'revolves around the love and rivalry between two equally matched, powerful socialites, Philip Fitzgerald Julien (Rufus Sewell) and Margot Worth Cole, who play out their obsessive attraction and seduction of each other through their manipulation of others'.
Katie's character is also a powerful player in the well-to-do world.
Named Ann, Katie's character along with her with her husband, runs a philanthropic foundation that helps bring clean water to African villages.

Wet and WILD: Pregnant Billie Faiers shows off her growing baby bump in striking leopard print bikini as she hits the beach with sister Sam in Dubai

Billie Faiers has traded Essex for the UAE as she laps up the sun in coastal Dubai with younger sister Sam.
The pregnant TOWIE babe showed off her growing baby bump as she waded through the surf on a local beach on Wednesday, catching the eye courtesy of her striking leopard print bikini.
Billie, 24, matched her two-piece with an obligatory pair of shades during her latest outing in the popular holiday hotspot, and they remained on for the duration of her beachfront jaunt with Sam.

The pair appeared keen to mark their trip with a series of fun snaps, and they posed ankle deep in the water while a pal took a photo.

Billie, who announced her first pregnancy and subsequent engagement to fiancĂ© Greg Shepherd in February, was in a relaxed mood as she padded across the sand before cooling off beneath one of the beach showers.
But while the boutique owner remained on dry land, Sam was in a boisterous mood as she gamely took to the water for a spot of stand-up paddle-boarding.

The 23-year-old was joined by two assistants while trying her hand at the popular sport, a derivative of the more conventional paddle-boarding – which requires participants to sit or kneel on their board.
Sam’s break comes less than two months after she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, an inflammatory bowel condition that can cause diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and weight loss.
Balancing on her board, Sam revealed her slender frame while sporting a striking bikini in contrasting pink and silver tones.

The Essex girl, who co-owns Minnie’s Boutique with her sister, kept her hair neatly tied back in a bun – and she was in good spirits as she paddled back to shore, where a pal was waiting with a trusty camera phone.
Joining the two girls for a day at the beach was mother Suzanne, who wore a garish patterned bikini while keeping Billie company on the sand.
Billie and Greg announced they were expecting their first child before getting engaged while on holiday in the Maldives shortly afterwards.
Sam recently told OK! magazine of becoming an auntie: 'I can’t wait. When we were young we used to spend a lot of time thinking about this moment.
'I cried when Billie told me! It’ll be the first baby in our immediate family and my mum is over the moon. She’s always said she can’t wait to be a nan. The whole family are thrilled.'

The REALLY Wild Show: Amazing images from new exhibition capture nature at its most raw from stampeding wildebeests to a baby orangutan playing peek-a-boo

From stampeding wildebeest kicking up African dust and leaping through the air to the tender moment a baby orangutan emerges from its mother's loving embrace, these are the images that capture the planet's raw natural beauty.
A sleepy pride of lions relaxes together showing the beauty of even the most fearsome of beasts while another picture shows the comical moment when a frog hitches a ride from a stag beetle.
They are all set to go on display at Somerset House in London in May when the venue hosts the 2014 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition.
Many of these stunning shots have been shortlisted in the nature and wildlife category, which also shows human interaction with animals.
he contest takes in a broad sweep of photographic disciplines and includes images of architecture and design. Shortlisted pictures will go on display between May 1 and 18.
This breathtaking image was taken by Bonnie Cheung when she witnessed the heart-pounding scene of wildebeest migration in Kenya in 2009. One of the animals appears to defy gravity by soaring in to the air with a massive leap as others kick up dust below as they stampede towards a Kenyan waterhole

Feline the love: These two affectionate creatures, one a fully grown male lion, the other a smaller house-style cat, seem like they are sharing some love in the great outdoors. Photographs of the wild animals were taken on the Shamwari Game Reserve in South Africa and the cat was added on later for its own safety.
